Gangster Squad is a 2012 drama film directed by Ruben Fleischer after a story written by Will Beall and Paul Lieberman. Gangster Squad can be considered a chronicle of the 1940’s and 50s LAPD`s fight to keep East Coast Mafia types out of Los Angeles.
Gangster Squad centrals mob king Mickey Cohen, impersonated by Sean Penn, who has developed a business that consists of several illegal activities. He does it all having the protection of police and politicians who lie under his control.
However there are still a few good guys in town. Two of them are Sgt John O’Mara, played by Josh Brolin and Jerry Wooters, interpreted by Ryan Gosling. The LAPD Chief Whiskey Bill Parker is impersonated by Nick Nolte and Emma Stone stars as Grace Faraday, Cohen’s moll.
