The Sessions is a 2012 drama directed and written by Ben Lewin. The Sessions is based on the autobiographical writings of journalist and poet Mark O’Brien.
The Sessions tells the story of a 38 year old man who is paralyze from neck down because he suffered from poliomyelitis. He must breathe with an iron lung.
Mark was determined to lose his virginity and so, with the guidance of his priest and advised by his therapist he searches for a sex surrogate.
The Sessions was considered one of the 2012 Sundance breakout hits. It presented a complicated reality in the simplest way.
