Alec Baldwin is an American actor who has appeared on film, stage and television. Alec Baldwin first gained recognition through television for his work in the soap opera Knots Landing, which aired on CBS from 1984 to 1986.
Alec Baldwin has since played both leading and supporting roles in films such as Beetlejuice, The Hunt for Red October, The Aviator and The Departed. His performance in the 2003 film The Cooler garnered him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination.
Alec Baldwin has received two Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and four Screen Actors Guild Awards. He is the oldest of the Baldwin brothers working in Hollywood.
Alec was born in Amityville, New York, the son of Carolyn Newcomb and Alexander Rae Jr., a high school history/social studies teacher and football coach. He was raised in a Catholic family of Irish, English and French descent. Alec has three younger brothers, Daniel, William, and Stephen, who also became actors.
