Amber Heard attended St. Michael`s Catholic Academy in Austin. As a teenager she was active in her school`s drama department. At the age of 16 her best friend died in a car crash. Dropping out of school at the age of 17, she then relocated to Los Angeles to get into acting.

Amber Heard is in a relationship with Arthur Wybrands, a young French-American producer. In April 2009, rumors spread about a supposed engagement but were immediately contradicted by her representative.
