Anthony Hopkins is a Welsh actor of film, stage and television. Anthony Hopkins is perhaps best known for his portrayal of cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs. He was born and brought up in Wales.
He became a U.S. citizen in April 2000. Anthony Hopkins received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003 and was made a Fellow of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in 2008.
Anthony Hopkins is the son of Muriel Anne and Richard Arthur. He found that he would rather immerse himself in art, such as painting and drawing or playing the piano, than attend to his studies.
Anthony Hopkins was influenced and encouraged to become an actor by Richard Burton. To that end, Anthony Hopkins enrolled at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff.
