Bill Murray is an American actor and comedian. Bill Murray first gained national exposure on Saturday Night Live and later went on to star in a number of critically and commercially successful comedic films.
Bill Murray was born and raised in Wilmette, the son of Lucille and Edward Joseph. His father died in 1967 from complications from diabetes. The family did not have much money. Bill Murray attended St. Joseph grade school and Loyola Academy.
During his teen years, he worked as a caddy to fund his education. After graduating, Bill Murray attended Regis University in Denver, Colorado, that in 2007 awarded him an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree.
