Dustin Hoffman is an American actor who has had a career in film, television, and theatre since 1960. Dustin Hoffman has been known for his versatile portrayals of antiheroes. Hoffman first drew critical praise for the 1966 Off-Broadway play Eh. This was soon followed by his breakthrough movie role as Benjamin Braddock in The Graduate.
Dustin received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1999. Dustin Hoffman is the second and youngest son of Lillian and Harry, a Russian born father who worked as a prop supervisor/set decorator at Columbia Pictures before becoming a furniture salesman.
Hoffman was named after stage and silent screen actor Dustin Farnum. His older brother, Ronald, is a lawyer and economist. He is from a Jewish family. Dustin Hoffman graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1955.
