James Franco is an American actor, film director, screenwriter, and film producer. James Franco began acting during the late 1990s. He achieved international fame with Sam Raimi`s Spider Man trilogy. James Franco has been nominated for three Golden Globe awards, winning one.

James Franco is the son of Betsy Lou and Douglas Eugene. His father is of Portuguese and Swedish descent and his mother is Jewish. James Franco grew up in California with his two younger brothers, Tom and Dave.

He interned at Lockheed Martin. James Franco graduated from Palo Alto High School in 1996. He enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles, but dropped out after his freshman to pursue a career as an actor.
