Martin Short is a Canadian-American actor, comedian, writer, singer and producer. Martin Short is best known for his comedy work but also starred in comedic films.
Martin Short is the youngest of five children, the son of Olive, a violinist, and Charles Patrick, a corporate executive with Stelco, a Canadian steel company. He and his siblings were raised Catholic. He had three older brothers David, Michael, Brian, and one older sister, Nora.
Martin Short’s eldest brother, David, was killed in a car accident in 1962, when Martin was 12. His mother died of cancer when he was 17 and, two years later in 1969, his father died of complications from a stroke.
Short attended Westdale Secondary School and graduated in 1972 from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work.
