Val Kilmer is an American actor. Val Kilmer became popular after a string of appearances in comedy films, as well as blockbuster action films, including a role in Top Gun.

Val Kilmer is the son of Gladys and Eugene, an aerospace equipment distributor. His grandfather was a gold miner in New Mexico. Val Kilmer is of German, Swedish, and Cherokee descent. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley with his two siblings, Mark and Wesley. Val Kilmer attended Chatsworth High School where he was classmates with Kevin Spacey and Mare Winningham.

Val Kilmer also attended Berkeley Hall School, a Christian Science school in Los Angeles. At the age of 17, he was the youngest person to be accepted into Juilliard`s drama program. His brother Wesley died as a teenager due to an epileptic seizure.
